Dear Parishioners:

It’s so good to be home!  I am overwhelmed by your many signs of love and support during my recuperation.

It was three weeks ago today that I sustained injuries due to a head-on car collision.  I give thanks to God that I survived the crash and have received excellent medical care.  My injuries included fracture of the right ankle and lower leg, and fracture of the sternum, scapula, and L1 vertebra.

Following the crash, I was taken to Methodist Hospital and underwent surgeries on my right ankle/lower leg.  After eight days at Methodist Hospital, I was transferred to the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana for ten days of physical and occupational therapy.  The doctors were pleasantly surprised by my speedy progress.  And I am convinced that all of this has happened due to God’s healing power as well as the strength of your many prayers.  I am so grateful.

I returned to St. Paul’s rectory last Saturday, January 27th.  Due to my injuries, I will not be able to put any weight on my right leg for three months.  I will also be required to wear a chest brace 24/7 for three months.  I also tire easily.  With your prayers and support, I will strive to be a “good” patient.

The accident on January 8 not only changed my life, but it has changed the life of parish as well.  God will help us during this time of trial.  I’m convinced that we will be stronger Christians because of it.

You are in my prayers each day.

Father Steve
