FROM FATHER STEVE:
The Fourth Sunday of Easter is traditionally known as “Good Shepherd Sunday.” In today’s Gospel, Jesus says: “My sheep hear my voice.” (Jn.10:27). Yet, how often are we distracted from really hearing, really listening? That includes priests.
This weekend we are invited you to contribute to the Catholic Home Missions Appeal, which supports U.S. parishes that are struggling financially. Thanks for helping.
Two of our parishioners were called to their eternal reward this past week—Duane Daniels (husband of Margaret), and Raymond Little (husband of Patricia). I know you join me in offering support to their spouses and families during this time of loss. And let us pray for our departed.
Last Wednesday Steven Madary was baptized into our Catholic faith family. Steven is presently serving time at the Putnamville Correctional Facility. We congratulate Steven as he makes this important commitment to the Lord.
I received good news from my orthopedic surgeon on April 18. I can begin to place “full” weight on my injured foot! Presently, I am doing physical therapy to strengthen my foot, improve my balance, and to wean me from my walker.
An Easter thought: “Christians are called to leave behind, in the tomb of Jesus Christ, all that belongs to the brokenness and incompleteness of the present world. It is time, in the power of the Spirit, to take up our proper role, our fully human role, as agents, heralds, and stewards of the new day that is dawning. That, quite simply, is what it means to be Christian: to follow Jesus Christ into the new world, God’s new world, which he has thrown open before us.”
Fr. Steve
