FROM FATHER STEVE:

Someone once said, “If the God you believe in hates all the same people you do, then you know you’ve created a God in your own image.”  On this Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, we are invited to worship the one, true God.  The challenge for us is, “are we willing to live in a way true to his image?”

Fr. Bernie LaMontagne (who teaches at St. Mary of the Woods College) returns to St. Paul’s this weekend and next.  Thanks, Father Bernie!  My goal is to attempt to celebrate Mass at St. Paul’s (finally) on the weekend of June 16/17.  Looking forward to seeing many of you then.

Would you believe that another member of our parish staff was involved in a car accident?  Paulette Davis, our Coordinator of Religious Education, was traveling with her daughter, Mee Na, on May 21st when she lost control of the car and rolled it.  The car was demolished.  But, thanks be to God, Paulette and Mee Na were not seriously injured.

This weekend, deacons Thomas Kovatch, Eric Nagel, and Randall Summers are being ordained priests to serve in our archdiocese.  As we welcome them let us pledge ourselves to support them.  The average age of the 475 priest expected to be ordained in the United States this year is 35 and one-third of them were born in another country.  In a recent survey 87% of the clergy said they were satisfied with their jobs, and 67% said they were generally happy.  Now that’s good news!  Educating our students for the priesthood is not cheap--$27,500.  So, your support of them through the special collection this weekend is greatly appreciated.

My physical therapy continues at least through mid-June.  I received my doctor’s permission to “drive“ again this week (at least on a parking lot!).  Thanks for your continued prayers and support.

Father Steve

St. Paul’s Vocations Committee

Please pray for one archdiocesan seminarian by name each day; Andrew Cope, Benjamin Syberg, Tim Wyciskalla, Lupe Ramos, Jose’ Hernandez, Marco Antonio Rodriguez, Aaron Jenkins

Note:  You must have been initiated as a 1st Degree member prior to Jan. 15, 2007, to be eligible to become a 4gh Degree.

If you have any questions contact Ron Bowman at 765.672.4772.

SECOND COLLECTION: EDUCATION OF FUTURE ARCHDIOESAN PRIESTS

The archdiocese has 26 seminarians 12 of which are in theology school approaching their final years of study.  Three of these men are being ordained to the priesthood this weekend.  Thank you for your spiritual and financial support which provides the necessary education and formation for our priests.  Please be generous in support of this collection and please continue to pray for vocations!
