FROM FATHER STEVE
On this 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, as our church year approaches its conclusion, we hear about the “end times” and our “end time”—death. The bible shows that the Jewish people had a realistic sense about death. The first Jewish inklings about an afterlife appear in today’s first reading (2 Maccabees). In today’s Gospel (Lk. 20) Jesus affirms the resurrection. But he does not clearly describe life after death. He preached more about life now. Jesus made it clear that the quality of life after we die was directly related to how we lived on earth. Our current Capital Stewardship Campaign has given us a chance to look at that important question.
Today (Sunday) our children will be taught about stewardship in their religious education classes. At 10:15 a.m. they will have a special Children’s Activity in the narthex. Don’t miss this!
This past week I mailed to parishioners their commitment cards for the Legacy for Our Mission Campaign. We ask that you complete the card and bring it with you to Mass next weekend (Commitment Weekend). They will be received during a special rite at Mass. All pledges are needed for the success of our campaign. Remember: It’s not about equal gifts, but equal sacrifice. Even if you cannot make a commitment at this time, please sign your card and return it. Thanks!
All parishioners are invited to attend one of the Special Events to be held after all of the Masses next weekend, November 17 and 18. Over food and drink, we will have the opportunity to enjoy our parish family and to rejoice in God’s many blessings to us.
Because of our Capital Stewardship Campaign, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development collection will be moved to one week later, November 24-25.
Once again I want to thank the dozens of volunteers who have helped with our Capital Stewardship Campaign. Please continue your prayers for its success!
Father Steve
AT 11:00 Mass we need extra video camera operators.

Also, we should pray for conversion, repentance and healing for those who have already participated in an abortion.
